Summer Program Staff – Seasonal Position (2026)

We are seeking energetic, responsible, and caring individuals to join our Summer Program team! This is a fun and rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on children while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Program Dates: June 15, 2026 – August 21, 2026
Commitment: Minimum of 8 weeks required
Schedule: 29–40 hours per week (based on program needs)
Program Length: 10-week, theme-based summer program

Position Overview

Summer Program Staff are responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children. Staff will implement age-appropriate activities, supervise daily routines, and support children’s social, emotional, and physical development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and lead age-appropriate activities for children
  • Supervise daily routines including playtime, mealtimes, nap/rest time, swimming, water play, and field trips
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and active engagement of all children
  • Build positive relationships and meaningful connections with children
  • Follow established lesson plans and contribute to a fun, theme-based program
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily notes and photos of children’s activities
  • Monitor and track children’s allergies, illnesses, and overall wellness
  • Ensure full compliance with State of Connecticut Child Day Care Regulations
  • Work collaboratively with team members to maintain a supportive environment
  • Adapt quickly and remain flexible in a fast-paced setting

Age Groups Served

  • 2–3 years old, 3–4 years old, 5–6 years old and 7–9 years old

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children required
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a group of up to 10 children
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and positive environment
  • Successful completion of the town’s pre-employment background check and drug screen (includes screening for marijuana)

Compensation:

$17 hourly
